Feeling a little zombie today…

Ever wonder what corgi zombies would look and act like? Me too! Well, I did. I must admit, this is one of the most fun dog cartoons I’ve drawn in a while. I’m pretty sure Merlin thought I was a little nuts, because I would giggle to myself while I was sketching it out, and he’d edge a little farther away from me each time.

The end result is a Zombie Corgi trio (because one is never enough), with a red & white, sable, and tri color all in the mix. My favorite is the little sable, not only did the poor dear get munched on a bit, but he’s meanwhile de-stuffing a hedgie and his little eyeball popped out.

Available at our home store as well as our Zazzle store, this design is awesome for ANYTIME, not just Halloween!

Tribal Corgi Art

A cool new design inspired by tribal tattoo art! Tribal Corgi is a Pembroke Welsh Corgi drawn in the popular cultural style, with the breed name written down the side. Available on corgi lover apparel (of course!), totes, mugs and other gear for pet owners who want a change from the traditional “I love my dog” merchandise. Available in our home store as well as our Zazzle store.

Our own YouTube Channel

To keep Merlin’s videos separate from the “riff raff,” he now has his own YouTube ChannelCorgiChaos!

The old videos are all getting moved over, and in addition, you’ll start see training and instructional videos appear. It’s National Train Your Dog Month, after all! We’ve created and uploaded two brand new videos today:

Teaching a Corgi Self Control -

This video is often asked for! Solve little behavior problems like grabbing for treats or going nuts for dinner, without any harsh corrections!

Teaching a “Dead Retrieve”

In this video, Merlin shows you how to train your dog to fetch a ball that you didn’t throw. Useful for retrieval and flyball work!

We’re going to organize our videos on this website so they’ll be easy to browse. We hope to include more instructional corgi videos, including how to play with all those fun interactive games!

National Train Your Corgi Month!

Okay, mebbe it’s National Train Your Dog Month… but I’m a corgi, and you probably own a corgi, so for all intents and purposes, it’s National Train Your Corgi Month. :)

Mom had quite a few ideas of things to teach me… one of her most ambitious ones was to stand on her feet and stay on as she walked around. Buuut, that kinda freaks me out. So instead, Mom started teaching me to run in and out of her legs. I wasn’t really comfortable with that at first (I’m a tripping hazard, after all), but after a while i was zooming in and out and getting tons of treats for it!

Mom also wanted me to walk backwards. But I decided that I’d rather just lay down and stare at her.

So Mom took advantage of my awesome attention span and worked on extreme leave-its. First, she taught me to balance a treat on my head. Then, she taught me to balance treat on my nose! Next, she put one on my paw… but it’s so tempting I can’t even look at it, I haz to turn away. And then Mom says I can eat it. :)

A video may be in the works for some of my great tricks… stay tuned, Mom will post them in my blog and in Facebook!

Twas the Night Before Christmas

Twas the Night Before Christmas – Corgi Version

by Merlin the Wonder Corgi (as translated by his hoomin)

All Rights are Reserved by his hoomin. Do not reproduce in any way without his hoomin’s written consent.

It was the Night Before Christmas, and inside my home,
Everybody was sleeping, and dreaming of bones.
My stocking was hung on the mantle by Mom,
In hopes that it soon would be filled with good nom.

Da hoomins were snuggled in each of their beds,
With whatever they dream about, filling their heads.
I had curled around on the fireplace rug,
Ready for a Christmas nap, snug as a bug.

Then from outside I heard a great noise,
I immediately jumped up to protect all my toys.
I realized in shock that my possessions were okay,
And if worst came to worst I’d keep the intruder at bay.

I glanced outside, out into the night,
And what I spied upon was quite a sight!
A little fat man sat inside a big sleigh,
with eight reindeer all prancy and gay.

In only a moment, the fat man appeared in the house,
Clutching an enormous bag, and quiet as a mouse.
I acted like any self-respecting corgi should,
And got a big bite of his butt really good.

He screamed like a girl, and threw his hands in the air,
From the way he went on was like he’d been mauled by a bear.
I held on for dear life until at last he slowed down,
And when he started to cry, I started to frown.

I’d heard tales as a puppy of a red coated guy,
Who’d bring good goggies presents, that Mom wouldn’t buy.
I let go of his toosh and went round to see,
But there’s nobody else that white bearded fella could be.

I felt kind of bad that I’d chomped on his rear,
And maybe a little worse that my bite brought a tear.
He looked at me thoughtfully and I looked back at him,
But I think he was lucky, he wasn’t ripped limb from limb.

He went straight to his work, and he said not a word,
And into my stocking he put a squeaky stuffed bird.
When he was done, he gave me a nod,
Rubbed his butt once, and gave a wince that was odd.

He flew up the chimney, the same way he’d come,
And I was surprised that his job was all done.
But when he sat down and urged his reindeer to fly,
They simply lay down and heaved a big sigh.

No matter what he did, they would not move on,
They would not fly, they would not be gone!
And I being a corgi, and used to obeyed,
Ran up to the roof to lend Santa my aid.

I snapped at their heels, I jumped at their hooves,
I barked myself hoarse, until they began to move.
I heard Santa laughing as they drove off in the fog,
“Merry Christmas to you, my snarky dwarf herding dog!”

So What’s the Deal with this Santa Paws?

Seriously, what’s up with this hoomin?

He only gives presents to GOOD little doggies?

Sounds like discrimination to me!
